Originally targeted for condominium development, a 20-acre site including Neawanna Point north of Seaside was subsequently donated to the North Coast Land Conservancy because of its unique historical and cultural value. In exchange for preserving the site, the developer created the memorial to Ruben Snake, a Winnebago tribe member who fought for Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993. The memorial now overlooks Neawanna Point. Materials were selected for their robust ability to withstand the harsh coastal environment 24/7. Naval bronze was water jet with traditional Winnebago icons and text written by Reuben Snake. A/D hand selected the Columnar Basalt from a stone quarry in Washington State, this was sandblasted in the field.

Specialty Design - Nike World Campus - Buses
Our design challenge was to design three campus buses from raw shells. Each bus was themed after a Nike athlete. A/D completed the interior design and buildout with graphics and shoe materials for the seating from the athlete's shoe line. We placed video monitors in each vehicle, completed custom flooring from Nike recycled shoe rubber and design vehicle graphic wraps.

Dawson Park has been an integral social hub for Portland’s African American community in Northeast Portland. Since it’s establishment in 1921, many noteworthy events have taken place in the park, such as a campaign visit by Robert Kennedy in 1968, a major march protesting the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968, and civil rights rallies and protests throughout the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Working with a local historian, a plan that integrates the rich history of surrounding communities with design components that reinvigorate the function of this community park. A/D designed stainless steel panels that the basalt stones rest on. Each stone and metal graphic panels tell the story of this iconic neighborhood park.

Specialty Design - NIKE TIGER WOODS CENTER - Beaverton Oregon
Architect: TVA Architects Client: Nike Ambrosini Design was retained by Nike to provide architectural graphic character and thematic detailing throughout the Tiger Woods Conference Center. At the main entry to the multi-use building is a life-size bronze statue of Tiger Woods, by Spanish artist Rosa Serra. The backdrop consists of a sandblasted granite wall that tells the history of golf. To the left of the sculpture is a free-standing etched glass blade featuring Tiger’s career accomplishments. Through layering the transparency, Tiger’s story casts a shadow over the history of golf.

A/D designed the 945 square foot glass mural for the WSU Applied Technology Classroom Building located on their WSU Vancouver Campus. Our design traces the history of electrical engineering from the 17th century development to present day. The graphic mural is applied to the glass cleanroom wall to provide a privacy screen while allowing natural daylight into the space.

The 10'-0" tall glass, clear grain Douglas Fir, and steel water jet cut bases. The freestanding donor blades mirror a lobby sculpture by a regional artist. Edges were sandblasted by hand to create a unique edge condition, donor names were photo etched onto the glass blades.

A/D provided Design / Build services for the Nike World Campus Expansion located in Beaverton, Oregon. As the graphic's general contractor for the campus expansion A/D designed and provided all exterior and interior signage for the campus expansion. A thematic, pedestrian and vehicular signage/wayfinding program was developed for the Nike World Headquarters. The project consisted of exterior wayfinding for the 74-acre site as well as interior signage for eight buildings consisting of 570,000 square-feet. Implementation of the plan provided a fresh graphic image for the wayfinding components through the use of architectural and Nike-themed icons.

The new wayfinding program has been designed to define the city’s boundaries and establish a sense of place. The architectural team prepared a master plan and redevelopment strategy for a 250-acre civic park located in the heart of Springfield, Missouri. Ambrosini Design developed a comprehensive exterior environmental graphic system in conjunction with a signage and wayfinding program. Our design challenge was to design an iconic identifier that reflects the rich history of the area. The new building is located on the former site of the Broadway Theater. A/D selected icons and architectural elements from the historic theater that recall this rich history while looking to the future. The scope of work included all exterior, parking garage, building lobby and tenant signage for the 24 story office building.

A thematic, pedestrian and vehicular signage/wayfinding program was developed for the Nike World Headquarters. The project consisted of exterior wayfinding for the 74-acre site as well as interior signage for eight buildings consisting of 570,000 square-feet. Implementation of the plan provided a fresh graphic image for the wayfinding components through the use of architectural and Nike-themed icons.

GBD Architects, Inc Completed 2009 Ambrosini Design was asked to provide design / build services for the signage / wayfinding and themed graphic murals for the new Les Schwab headquarters located in Bend, Oregon. Our solution: A graphic system that reflects the architectural materials palette and the surrounding area of Central, Oregon. The Les Schwab offices were the first parcel in the 1,500-acre Juniper Ridge master plan. Phase I includes a 120,000 sq. foot, three-story office building with 350 parking stalls.

The interior mural program follows the rich history of Les Schwab the iconic tire company's founder from the first store in 1952 to present day. Employees and visitors are able to follow the company's history from the beginning of the first store located in Prineville, Oregon to the chains 400 plus location in eight western states today. The story unfolds beginning on the lower building level and culminates at Level 4 Board Room display cases of personal memorabilia of the founder.

The exhibition focused on the architecture of Pietro Belluschi ( 1899 - 1994 ) as one of the leading proponents of Modernist architecture in the Pacific Northwest. The exhibit took place at the Oregon Historical Society Museum. The exhibition featured models, artifacts, a Frank Lloyd Wright personal letter to Mr. Belluschi and a photographic history of this regional icon.

The challenge presented to A/D by Adidas International was to create a traveling interactive experience which would effectively communicate the “feet you wear” design philosophy, technology and benefits to a diverse audience. Our approach to this problem was to create a “feet on” interactive experience which would serve to inspire the individual to think more about their feet and how they interact with various terrain. A modular frame floor system was developed which induced the participant to remove their shoes in order to fully interact with the experience. Each technology (traction, torsion, cushioning) was abstractly translated into a sensory experience. Additionally, the design incorporated DVD/video and vertical banner elements which further enhanced and explained FYW technology creating even greater impact and understanding.

The transit oriented development brings together community services opportunities for higher education, workforce training and continuing education for the regions residents. The comprehensive exterior and interior wayfinding program focuses primary wayfinding from the transit center, parking into and throughout the building. Signs materials and finishes reflect the buildings modern aesthetic.

As Oregon's largest urban university, PSU occupies over 50 acres with 50 buildings and 10 residential student housing units. The location in the heart of one of America's most dynamic cities with 28,000 students, required an exterior branded wayfinding system to define the campus boundaries. The program became the common graphic element that helped define the 50 acre site and assist students and visitors with primary wayfinding and identification as they navigate throughout the urban campus.

The Valley Library is the primary research library located on the Oregon State University Campus. The 6 story building holds more than 1.4 million volumes. A/D designed the exterior, interior signage and wayfinding including the main donor freestanding elements located in the entry lobby.

Architects: LMN Architects. An effective signage and wayfinding program is tested by the ease that students and visitors are able to navigate through the building. Sign subframe that supports the overhead and blades signs was designed to mirror the wing design of the Curtiss JN-4 "Jenny" one of the first production biplanes produced in the the United States in 1918. A/D designed custom light fixtures for both sign types.

The Shops at North Bridge is an 18-story, 500,000 square foot hotel and retail center located on Michigan Avenue, Chicago's premiere shopping district. The building features a 90-foot high atrium, curved retail arcade, and a 350-room hotel complex.

The architectural graphics program consists of a comprehensive exterior and interior thematic graphics system. A/D provided Design / Build services for the developer. Three types of standard tenant signs were developed with etched glass and a graphic carrier. The system mirrors the architectural finishes, textures and forms, creating a seamless system to enhance North Bridge's signature style.

Based on the logo design we created a glass and stainless steel chandelier that provided primary identification of the retail center. The chandelier is suspended in the 4 story glass entry lobby of the regional shopping center located in Downtown Denver, 16th Street Mall.

Our design task was to create a strong brand identity for the regional shopping center that would form the foundation of the signage and graphic system. We selected regional flora located in Cook County, Illinois to build our design foundation. These graphic elements were used to create murals used on the site and interior to support the new brand. We also wrapped the existing water tower and repainted it.
